Eating your greens and why it's imporant

WHY is it important to eat our greens? In particular, the cruciferous veggies that includes broccoli, cabbage, kale, bok choy, arugula, brussels sprouts, collards, watercress, radishes & cauliflower (though they aren’t green, they still fall into this category).

Green vegetables share several nutritional benefits,  being rich in vitamins and minerals such as folate and vitamin K. Dark green cruciferous veggies also are a source of vitamins A and C and contain phytonutrients — plant-based compounds that may help to lower inflammation and reduce the risk of developing cancer.

They’re also rich in soluble fibre, which helps to keep us regular! Nobody wants to be constipated or have that full/bloated feeling, and eating enough fibre helps to keep our bowels moving.

We talk a lot about ‘Eating the rainbow’, well green is definitely a colour you want on your plate!  Aim to add something green to your plate whenever you can, your body will thank you for it!
