Dinner time - being prepared

Dinner time can be stressful for many of us. Decisions, ingredients, time. When you’re hungry and under pressure, unhealthy dinners can start to creep into your every day life. My top tip for nights when you’re busy - KEEP IT SIMPLE. You don’t need to get a recipe book out and become Martha Stewart when you’re getting home late from work or have hungry kids screaming at you.

Here are a few tips that might help you nail that dinner time routine:

  • On a Sunday night have a look through our recipes section and plan some easy dinners for the week ahead.

  • Think about what nights you’re going to be home late, or coming in with tired, hungry kids from sport. Keep the meals SIMPLE that night.

  • An easy, healthy dinner I always have for those last minute rush nights, is chicken wraps. Grab a hot chicken from the supermarket, put the wraps out, chop up heaps of salad ingredients, and let the kids make their own. Chicken, salad, roll it up, BOOM! Dinner done, and it’s not a takeaway. Winning!

  • Get that crock pot going, especially during winter and for ladies who are on farms. Calving time is not a time to be using the recipe books late at night, nor is it time to be visiting the Fish & Chip shop every night because you’re tired and can’t be bothered cooking. Meet half way and cook a simple, healthy dinner that you know you can manage. You got this!

  • Get all of your meat out of the freezer on Sunday and store it in containers in your fridge. Then there’s no excuse for forgetting to get the meat out in the morning. Remember failing to plan is planning to fail. 10 minutes of planning ahead on a Sunday night for the week will save you SO much time and bother later on in the week.

Remember ladies, failing to plan is planning to fail. Avoid those takeaway dinners (keep them for a “sometimes treat only”) throughout the week, and nail your family’s dinners. Get stuck in to the recipes in the members site, there are so many to choose from now. You got this!! Sarah X
